چکیده

This paper describes a compiler that generates both hardware and controlling software for eld-programmable compute accelerators. By analyzing a source program together with part of its input, the compiler generates VHDL descriptions of functional units that are mapped on a set of FPGA chips and an optimized sequence of control instructions that run on the customized machine. The primary technique employed in the compiler is partial evaluation, which is used to transform an application program together with part of its input into an optimized program. Further phases in the compiler identify pieces of the program that can be realized in hardware and schedule computations to execute on the resulting hardware. Finally, a set of specialized functional units generated by the compiler for a timing simulation program is used to demonstrate the approach.

Architecture Description and Prototype Demonstration of Optoelectronic Parallel-Matching Architecture

We propose an optoelectronic parallel-matching architecture (PMA) that provides powerful processing capability for distributed algorithms comparing with traditional parallel computing architectures. The PMA is composed of a parallel-matching (PM) module and multiple processing elements (PE's). The PM module is implemented by a large-fan-out free-space optical interconnection and parallel-matchi...

Optoelectronic parallel-matching architecture: architecture description, performance estimation, and prototype demonstration.

We propose an optoelectronic parallel-matching architecture (PMA) that provides powerful processing capabilities in global processing compared with conventional parallel-computing architectures. The PMA is composed of a global processor called a parallel-matching (PM) module and multiple processing elements (PE's). The PM module is implemented by a large-fan-out free-space optical interconnecti...

1 Evaluation of the 3 - D Optical Interconnection Module of the Sliding Banvan

AbstructA free-space optical interconnection module for the sliding Banyan (SB) multistage interconnection network is experimentally evaluated. This three-dimensional (3-D) optical shuffle topology employs a mucro-lens array in a reflective architecture. Interconnections for multiple stages are interleaved across a single two-dimensional (2-D) multichip array of “smart pixels.” The experimental...

Bi-directional optical backplane bus for general purpose multi-processor board-to-board optoelectron - Lightwave Technology, Journal of

AbsfractWe report for the first time a bidirectional optical backplane bus for a high performance system containing nine multi-chip module (MCM) boards, operating at 632.8 and 1300 nm. The backplane bus reported here employs arrays of multiplexed polymer-based waveguide holograms in conjunction with a waveguiding plate, within which 16 substrate guided waves for 72 (8 x 9) cascaded fanouts, are...

A Small-Scale CAN-Based PM BLDC Motor Control for Automotive Accessory Electrification and Electric Traction

This paper presents the development of an experimental platform to test a real-time controller for a small Permanent Magnetic Brushless Direct Current (PM BLDC) motor using a Controller Area Network (CAN) communication bus. The CAN communication bus transmits and receives information between modules to control the speed, acceleration/deceleration, and rotational direction of the motor. The desi...
